The Mia Hammers reunited today to play in the St. Louis Catholic School 4 v. 4 soccer tournament, where they came in 2nd last year to a co-ed team consisting of four boys and two girls, who scored a suspicious goal to tie it up and then won in penalty kicks. Larkin and her friends are not a bit competitive, as evidenced by their impeccable memory of this infuriating defeat one year ago. Alas, they ended up in the final game again this year against the same co-ed team, whose smallest player was the same size as our largest player (thin-as-a-rail Larkin). Things did not turn out in our favor again this year, but the Mia Hammers can be proud that they beat one co-ed team this go-round, which was pretty sweet to watch, especially because one boy was so mouthy.
Logan's NASA soccer team, the Corgis, split into two teams to play in the tournament, too. Logan's team won one, tied one, and lost one for a tournament trifecta. It was a long day of disorganized tournament fun, and we will look forward to next year.
