Today was Logan's first day in the Panda room at school. Larkin was pleased to see her former teacher Miss Angela. Logan was dubious but a trooper, nonetheless.

We are really proud of Larkin for being one of the first 4 year olds to move up to the Leaping Frogs at the beginning of the summer. She went to school for most of the summer with older kids she didn't really know. Monday most of them start kindergarten, and Larkin's classmates will be moving up from the younger class to join her. We're ready to see Lucy!!!

Larkin and Logan are spending the weekend in Devine with Marvin at Grandma and Grandpa's while I rest up for the start of a new school year. Larkin went with Aunt Erin, Taylor, and Claire to a Calame/Dubose Girls' Sleepover tonight for a little while. She apparently led a Conga Line at one point.

Marvin started his post-diss book drop today when I picked him up at work. It was cathartic for both of us to see that bag of books go away. He's back at work doing some last steps but plans to turn all the paperwork in to the Graduate School tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

(Not too) Puzzling

Larkin got a new tractor puzzle on Saturday and has enjoyed putting it together multiple times a day since then.

The Thinkery

After a day home with upset tummies yesterday, the girls rallied this afternoon when my friend and coworker Jennifer helped me take them to The Thinkery today while Marvin worked on his diss. She was a huge help and even took pictures!

Dentist Visit

Larkin was a champ at the dentist's office today. She cooperated with everything they asked of her and got a kick out of seeing her x-rays and looking in the hand-held mirror they let her hold to see what she looked like in the purple sunglasses they gave her to keep the light from bothering her eyes. The difference in her cooperation with others versus with her parents is really remarkable (and pretty exasperating).

In Oxford one day last week, I made sure we stopped for lunch at Abner's. I don't know why it's that particular place I miss of all the restaurants in Oxford. Must be the Abner's Sauce, despite it's mayonnaise base.

Taylor went back to Devine yesterday after spending the past two weeks with us in Mississippi. We sure were grateful for her company! As an added bonus, we got to visit with Cousin Claire, Grandpa, and Grandma when they came to Austin to pick Taylor up.

"Big Girl Style"

One of Larkin's favorite things to do on our trip to MS was ride her bike. Clearly, clothes were optional for this activity. She'd ride while instructing her sister on how to join her. Classic lines like, "Ok, Logan, if you go out the gate, then you have to ride back in Big Girl Style!"
