Larkin's friend Maggie, who moved away last summer, is in town this week, so we met up with some old Pease buddies at the pool. It was bittersweet, as it usually is when the girls see their old school friends, so they jumped it out on the diving board for awhile after all the others left.
The girls and I stopped by Cabela's today to get some water shoes for Larkin. They had a good time looking at the aquarium, the various taxidermied wild game tableaus, the lovies, and the camping gear.
The girls and I went to the YMCA pool yesterday, which has recently opened back up after a long hiatus. The last time we were there, neither girl was ready to do the two water slides. Yesterday, they made up for lost time by sliding for approximately three hours.
Today I took them to Georgetown to visit a couple of playgrounds, Hat Creek, and Blue Hole on the San Gabriel River. I took exactly two pictures in two days. 🤦🏼♀️
Austin has a brand new soccer stadium for its professional soccer team Austin FC. The stadium was just finished, and the first game ever played in it was last night, a game between the US Women's National Soccer team and Nigeria. Larkin was able to go with a few friends from her soccer team, and her parents were both very jealous!
How it took me so many years to discover St. Edward's Park in northwest Austin is beyond me. The girls and I went last week and will have to go back with river shoes, towels, and snacks. Luckily, we happened to run into someone we knew who let us borrow a towel so the girls could wade in the stream. It was a delightful surprise, and much easier hiking than the Greenbelt.
Marvin has been coaching Larkin's soccer team again this season, or what there was of a season this Spring. The league wouldn't let them have games till Austin moved down to Stage 2 Covid restrictions three weeks ago. They've since had two scrimmages rained out. They've been practicing when they can, and Larkin's really enjoying playing again.
