Evening Swim

It didn't fall below 100 degrees today until about 8 PM, so the girls and I hit the pool then for an hour or so. Of course, as soon as our feet touched water in the big pool, the lifeguards blew the whistle for a fifteen minute "adult swim," aka "checking for poop in the pool." The girls got some time warming up in the wading pool before getting in some swim practice at dusk.

Olympiad Camp

Larkin has had Olympiad Camp this week through the YMCA. Their big Olympic Games are being held today (at the school in the TV show _Friday Night Lights_, if the stands look familiar). Her group from Pease School is representing Jamaica, and all the other YMCA camps from the Greater Austin Area are attending, each with their own country assignment. I have no idea which events they are doing; but judging by the three huge bouncy slides in the distance in one photo below, it seems like it will be fun.

Elena's Birthday Party

Logan's classmate Elena had her 5th birthday at a swim school today, which meant Logan got to swim for 75 minutes. The lifeguards had each kid do a swim test to determine if they had to wear a lifevest while in the pool. Little Miss Logan just sauntered down the steps and kickes her way all the way across the pool without even coming up for air and then swam back across just for good measure.  I was so proud. She was pumped about getting so much swim practice in a big pool and then about birthday cake, so she did a pretty serious jig between swimming and snacks.

Puppeteering

The shows kept involving one animal eating the other and then eventually burping or tooting that animal back out in one piece...with sound effects, of course. Riveting writing.

Crazy Sock and Hair Day

Larkin's last day of soccer camp called for crazy socks and hair- spraypaint to match her World Cup team--Spain. Her team ended up winning Gold in the camp tournament, and Larkin was holding her on with the bigger, older boys.
Meanwhile, Logan had splashday at school but also wanted crazy hair like Sista's. The hairspray rubbed off on everything all day long, so that's kind of a pain. But they loved it, so probably worth it.

Unexpectedly Busy Week

Larkin has had soccer camp this week each morning, which seemed pretty easy when I signed her up. I didn't quite realize how far the indoor soccer facility is from our house, however, which means I also didn't realize I would spend an hour each day driving at drop off and then again at pickup...for a three hour session...doh! But the good thing is that she is having fun and has had a playdate every afternoon this week with the other hoodlums in this photo, Lexie and Will from her YMCA soccer team.

Uncle Marvin and Maggie Time

Bonding over the classic "That's Not [Jimmy's] Tractor!" last week while in Pontotoc.

Yummy Slushies

...on July 4th after the parade in Pontotoc. Nothing says "America!" like Sonic blue raspberry slushies with rainbow candy added for good measure.

Happy Birthday to me!

I had a conference in San Antonio this past week, so Marvin took the girls to his parents' house while I was away. He was able to join me for a yummy sushi dinner in SA the night of my birthday. Thanks again to Becky and Dad for the surprise flowers!
