Teething, perhaps?

Granted, it may be a while yet before teeth make an appearance; but Larkin's definitely interested in chewing these days. When she's not getting after Sophie the Giraffe, she's chewing on this bright yellow ring. And drooling everywhere...

Taking It Easy

Larkin decided rolling over on Sunday was fun but that she really only needed to do it that one time. She's been holding out on us since. Here she is cuddling up to Miss Chantel at the Mini-Maroon Academy (daycare).

A Good Weekend

We've had a nice weekend to cap off a rather difficult week. Yesterday, we went to Salvation Pizza with the Kellys and the Sollocks to celebrate Marvin's 37th birthday. Later in the evening, we went to Pete's house to watch the UConn/Arizona basketball game. This afternoon we went to the Rumseys' house for Zoe's 2nd birthday party. Larkin was a trooper through all the festivities. Here she is with her dad yesterday at Salvation Pizza.

A Tiring Week

Larkin and her parents made it through her first week of daycare. Here she is crashed out in one of those crazy four-seater strollers that the daycare has. Two walks a day is definitely more outside time than she was getting when home alone with her lazy mama!

Daycare: Day Two

Larkin's apparently playing so hard that she's forgetting to take any naps at daycare, resulting in a complete meltdown this afternoon and then a four-hour nap when she got home. We're hoping she'll soon get used to the constant background noise at the daycare in order to get some naps during the day.

Daycare: Day One

It turns out that it was just too emotionally draining for Jessica to go back to work and take Larkin to daycare all on the same day. So Larkin stayed with Marvin Monday while Jessica cried her way through the work day. Today we conquered the next hurdle--day one of daycare!
A caring colleague of Jessica's took some pictures of Larkin while said colleague was at the daycare visiting her son. It did Jessica's heart good to get these pictures on her phone during 2nd period today.

Tummy Time--on a mat just like the one at GrandM.A. and Jimmy's house!

Just hanging out

Larkin's all smiles with Miss Chantel.

Larkin's First Softball Game

After an emotional day at work, Jessica decided to take Larkin to the ballpark to watch Marvin's game. Larkin was by far the loudest and cutest fan.

Who needs daycare...

when you can hang with your dad all day.

Fun with the Fam

Erin, Taylor, and Claire came to visit yesterday and spent the night. Grandma Susan, Grandpa Marvin, and Brian came this morning. We all enjoyed Hoover's for lunch (except Larkin, of course) and then some visiting on the front porch. Everyone has gone their respective ways now, and Jessica has to get serious about her return to school.

Watching the Controlled Burn in Pontotoc

Jimmy put Marvin and Ned to work on thursday. Jessica and Larkin just watched.

It's pretty cool

Pontotoc, that is. We've had a great visit to Mississippi, heading back to Austin in the morning so Jessica has the weekend to prepare for work on Monday. She's already cried once today about the end of maternity leave. More tears to follow, for sure.

Working on a Milestone

Larkin's decided it's about time she rolled over. She's feeling really good about making it to her side and is spending most of her floor time that way, plotting her next move.

Standing Guard in Pontotoc

Larkin helped Jimmy keep watch for pesky squirrels at the bird feeders. She's following in cousin David's footsteps.

Larkin Meets the Magnolia Mitchells

Cousin Julia, Aunt Alice, and Uncle Lem came to visit this afternoon! They all smiled at Larkin while she smiled at the camera.

Then Larkin decided to take a nap while Cousin David opted to play with Uncle Lem's hat.

In later events, Larkin remembered that she had discovered her feet while in Vicksburg. They're as fascinating as she had remembered.

Larkin and Baxter, Sitting in a Tree

Jessica Larkin's friend Jessica Leigh came to visit us today while we are visiting in Jackson. She brought her husband Lain and her son Baxter with her! Baxter is three weeks older than Larkin, though we keep reminding both babies that they did have the same due date once upon a time.

Larkin Meets Mississippi

Her cousin David is a hoot!

Her Aunt Mary Beth is beautiful!

The car trip was a success. Larkin slept most of the way, so we'll see what that does to her night sleeping. Tomorrow, it's on to Jackson to see some more Mitchells.

Busy Ash Wednesday

We went to church and got ashes on our foreheads.

We bought a sun hat.

And Larkin spent the evening hanging out with her dad since she won't see him for five whole days. Next stop: Mississippi!

Gourmet Hotdogs

Marvin, M.A., Jessica, and Larkin all went to Frank Grocery for lunch today. The adults got gourmet hotdogs, waffle fries, and Dublin Dr. Pepper in mason jars. Larkin thought it all very unfair.

Front Porch Sitting

M.A. and Marvin were busy doing yard work this afternoon, so Larkin decided to sit on the front porch and watch all the activity. As you can see, she wasn't too happy about being left all alone on the porch.

She felt a lot better once Marvin joined her.

Jessica Takes a Break

Jessica is feeling a little under the weather today, so Grandma M.A. and Marvin have taken over Larkin's care for the evening, including feeding her and bathing her before bed. Jessica's enjoying propping her feet up and watching a little T.V. in her pajamas.

Three Months Old!

And apparently old enough to realize when her mom or dad is not holding her. Grandma M.A. and Jimmy arrived yesterday, and Larkin has yet to let them hold her without pitching a fit. Great...separation anxiety just in time for day care. :(
